A cuppa & chat with Fiona | On Rituals & Intention

How do you define a ritual?

A habit set with intention, one that I choose to support my next-level goals.  Often this comes with an enormous amount of discomfort and fear.

How do you create a ritual?

It’s born from what I want to achieve: so if I want to become stronger, I build my ritual from that intention.  I map out, the problem I want to overcome.  Then I outline a plan, and break it down into actionable steps.  Hold myself accountable to my promises and give it at least a year. Show up every day even when I don’t want to.

What is the power within a ritual?

Discipline - a promise. The ritual is the container for my new life unfolding, like an embryo in the womb.

How do rituals impact your daily life?

Well, it's defining the lines between my different activities.

It's rolling out my exercise mat in the quiet darkness of the morning.  It is like I draw a line and prepare a pause between each activity, in this example from sleep to movement.

It’s the pause between each activity.  I find this helpful, as I can run around with a massive to-do list feeling defeated, overwhelmed and frazzled.

Do your rituals change, according to seasons etc?

The only ones that change would be some of my choices of food and tea - more baths in winter, with apple cider vinegar.

What are you calling in with rituals these days?

Discipline, honesty, actionable steps and courage.

What are you releasing?

Wishy-washiness, fear - I still have fear, the belief that I cannot create the life I desire.  I think my life work will be doing my best to stay highly aware of my tendency to play the role of Victim.  Yes, a capital V, Victim.

Could you share a ritual with us to try?

I could go on and on here but my top 2 are Tea & Incense.

I have always loved high-grade teas and Matcha.  I enjoy preparing my morning  Ceremonial Grade Matcha with some medicinal mushrooms.  I then make a second Matcha with Shilajiit for a great energy boost via bioavailable minerals. Its adaptogenic properties have helped ease menopausal symptoms.

Could you share a ritual you use in your family?

The ritual of games, that’s nice to do.  Meal planning, going over diaries to plan the week.  There are a lot of moving parts in our family.  I love it when we sit around the dinner table and chat, and play a game after a nice meal.
